Harvest of Hope

Progress Being Made in Realization of Harvest of Hope!

July 8, 2010

We are pleased to report to you that through the generous giving of our partners and through the labors of one of our volunteers connected with agri-business, RHI has purchased and shipped to Haiti the farm machinery needed to meet the Haitian government requirements for farming the 70 acre plot near our ministry location in La Plaine. Praise the Lord for His abundant provision for our brothers and sisters in Haiti.

The challenge we now face is that the two tractors and all of the pull-behind implements are stored in the customs area in Port-au-Prince and will require a rather large sum to clear the items for release to our Haitian team. The estimate we have received is that the customs charges may run as high as $15,000 or more. There is a limited amount of time to claim these items and put them to work on our acreage. After 30 days of storage, the Haitian customs department will begin charging us additional storage fees.

We are appealing to all our faithful partners to do two things in support of our Harvest of Hope Agriculture project. Pray that the Lord will move so that the customs fees are much less than expected. Also, please give what you can through our PayPal donor link or via mailing a check to RHI so that we can reach the $15,000 we need quickly.

If you have further questions or want to help with our sustainable, self-suffiency in agriculture project, please contact us by email or phone.

Agriculture Project: $35,000 Goal

March 13, 2010

We are thankful to the Lord for His provision for us of 70 acres of prime, farmable land near the coast of Haiti, located conveniently a short distance from our mission compound. We believe this project is absolutey crucial in providing healthier food for our children and educating them in self-sufficiency, as well as providing a reliable source of revenue for the ministry locally. During our September trip, we were accompanied by Dr. Glenwood Hill of Fort Valley, a recognized expert in sustainable agriculture and Third World development, as well as pastors Richard Bright and Samuel Mosteller of Atlanta. These men have agreed to assist us in what we are calling our Harvest of Hope agriculture project.

As a result of our meeting with the local mayor and other government officials in La Plaine, Haiti, we have learned that in order to receive the rights to use the land free of charge for 20 years, we must demonstrate the financial, planning, and labor capacity to develop the land for sustainable and viable agriculture.

Immediately upon our return from the September development trip to Haiti, our team began creating a framework and organization for the land and our mission director in Haiti, Pastor Jean Paul, travelled with our agriculture team to the big annual Farm Expo in Moultrie, GA.

Just a few days ago one of our partners, Travis Hanenburg, succeeded in assembling a nearly complete machinery and equipment package which meets the requirements of our Harvest of Hope project. Instead of the $40,000 we expected to have to pay, the Lord has provided these tractors and implements for $25,000. We thank God for His provision and for this amazing opportunity.

But now we need your partnership with us more than ever! Please take a few moments to download the detailed Harvest of Hope information and prayerfully consider making a one-time special gift toward this vital project. We must raise $35,000 in order to seize this opportunity and insure that this eqipment arrives safely in Haiti.

We covet your prayers and your assistance in this crucial kingdom outreach.

In Christ,

Rev. Martin Hawley
