Harvest of Hope Stalled by $16,200 in Red Tape!

Three Haitian OrphansThere are times when just a few dollars make a huge difference. RHI needs immediate investment from our partners to overcome a hurdle facing our Harvest of Hope agriculture project. An investment of only $30 will help us clear customs in Haiti.

Many of you know that for the past year we have been working hard to get tractors and other farm implements purchased and sent to our ministry in La Plaine, Haiti so that we can begin farming a seventy-acre plot offered to us by the local Haitian government. The seventy acres is allocated 1/3 for food production, 1/3 for cash crops, and 1/3 for micro-enterprise family plots.

Thanks to God’s bountiful provision and gifts from many of you, we have acquired the tractors and the necessary implements and shipped them successfully to Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We are now on the verge of being able to:

a) Improve the nutrition offered to our orphans, church members, and food evangelism outreaches.

b) Save funds currently spent upon food acquisition.

c) Provide a reliable source of cash liquidity for the mission.

d) Foster economic self-sufficiency for families who develop 1 acre plots.

e) Connect the information taught in the k-12th grade school with agriculture life-work skills for our orphans and children from the neighborhood.

But now we have reached a barrier that we can only cross as God again provides through our ministry partners’ further financial kingdom investments. The Haitian customs officials have determined that Reformation Hope must pay $16,200 in duties and fees in order to release our Harvest of Hope agriculture equipment for use on the farmland.

Diagram of the 70-acre Agri ProjectWe must raise this money within the next seven days in order to meet the customs deadline and avoid paying daily storage fees at the port. Will you please help us at this critical time? Many of you have helped us in the past and we hesitate to make an appeal at this time. But we believe this is the critical component for ministering to the needs of our Haitian brothers and sisters at this time. We have determined that if everyone who receives this appeal simply makes a special investment of $30 through our website on-line system, we will reach our goal and clear the Harvest of Hope agriculture equipment for release to our Haitian team. Please help us continue in restoring real, lasting hope to Haiti!

Sincerely,
Rev. Martin Hawley, director of development
